The Congolese guitarist Messo Messo has an enormous talent, unfortunately proportional to his great discretion. Based in Montpellier for more than thirty years, he has played with everything the local afro-folk-fusion scene has to offer, from the historic Kunta Kinte to the realistic songs of Dimoné and the afro-gospel of Emmanuel Djob. He has also set up his own projects, a trio with drummer Sega Seck for example, and produced a wonderful album, Cité Indigène, released in 2000. A dive into the tradition of Congo rhythms, where Messo-Messo alternates between guitar and sanza, accompanied by the magic sticks of Denis Tchangou, Marco Baliu and Serge Ngando on bass, and François Rava on saxophone. One sometimes thinks of Sixun, of Ray Lema - or one thinks of nothing and lets oneself be carried away. To discover without moderation!
