Born in Paris, Kristo Numpuby grew up in Eséka (Cameroon). During his schooling at the Jesuits in Douala, Kristo took up the guitar and obtained a bachelor's degree in economics. In Paris, after his BTS in Communication, he was an advertising manager for four years before returning to his first passion. He became a bassist sideman behind Aïcha Koné during a tour in Germany. While traveling with the Congolese singer Kanda Bongo Man in Ghana, he met Stevie Wonder who suggested he record his own compositions. Since then, Kristo Numpuby has published 4 albums, including Brassens en Afrique, which earned him a place on the last 5 minutes of the Journal de 13h on France 2. Kristo Numpuby's music swings between traditional African accents with a very fine rhythm, the Assiko style, and American negro-folk, played with acoustic instruments.
